Mountain Lion Attacks on People in the U.S. and Canada
by my coauthor Thomas Jay Chester
This informative but not alarmist site about mountain lion attacks in the United States and Canada is what inspired me to make my contributions. It presents attack lists which emphasize California encounters, since this was his original area of study. Tom also presents cougar data and statistics and everything you always wanted to know about hiking in California and the Grand Canyon. If you dig deep for clues, you may also find a chocolate rating system here plus links to a mad squirrel encounters group, traffic cone evolution studies, and much more - trust me!

Eastern Puma Research Network
by Renowned Eastern Researcher, John A. Lutz
For over 40 years, John has been keeping records of Eastern Puma sightings, and his diligent research was recently featured on The History Channel. If you have a sighting or any puma evidence, John will record it, often investigating himself by conducting actual field operations or with the help of his many expert contacts which include naturalists, biologists, university professors, doctors, veterinarians, and law enforcement personnel. The site provides forms for reporting puma information with the data needed for verification. In addition, a 24 hour Hotline is available, and a free forum is easily accessible. Evidence submitted is treated very discretely, if requested. Substantiated information is presented accurately, following up with officials, even if they are reluctant to verify strictly gathered material. Seminars and classes are offered regarding specific topics such as tracking. This site is concerned with protecting cougars.

Trackincats.com : Records and Discussions About Predatory Cats
by New York State Researcher, Roxanne
Though one of the few sites collecting Eastern and especially New York sightings and incidents, broader reports are made here as well regarding all U.S. and Canadian cougar accounts. Other wildlife is frequently discussed at a nicely interactive and free forum. If you have a recent incident or sighting of interest, this is a great place to get it recorded and/or discussed. This site is concerned with human safety.
